When you walk on the beach, how often do you find yourself scanning the sand hoping to spot something unique? You might pick up shells, a bit of beach glass, a piece of driftwood—something beautiful and inspiring. If you’re ready to take the next step and transform those beach finds into your own creative expression, we have an event for you!  Bring your best creation to All Washed Up 2021, Vermilion’s Annual Driftwood Art Contest, on Saturday, July 31, just eight weeks from now.

Exchange Park, in the heart of downtown Vermilion, will be filled with fun, imaginative, and unique work by folks of all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome! Prizes will be awarded to the best work in each category (Kids, Teens, Adults, Teams, and AWU 3D). Plus those attending will vote to determine the winner of the coveted People’s Choice Award.

All Washed Up is FREE to enter and attend, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, Lake Erie Foundation and the Vermilion Arts Guild

You still have plenty of time to get to the beach, gather your driftwood (and other “all washed up” elements), and then get creative. Visit the Main Street Vermilion website for event details, category and registration information, and resources to help you safely prepare and work with driftwood. Photos of entries from past years will give you even more inspiration.

Driftwood washes up every day so there’s always something new to discover.  Hope you’ll be part of the fun at All Washed Up this summer!
