One Summer in Vermilion: Volume 1, Issue 3

It’s been a beautiful week in Vermilion! The sun is out and the temperature has been comfortable! As always, life at Main Street Vermilion is busy. Here is a run-down of my third week:

  • I’m still in the process of gathering Textedly subscribers. I noticed that Rocky and Lela’s Barkery and Boutique was open, so I went inside and spoke with Angela, the owner. She is very excited about having her business in downtown Vermilion (her grand opening on Tuesday was the same day as her birthday!). If you need anything for your pooches, Rocky and Lela’s is the place to go!

  • Big news for Vermilion in Bloom enthusiasts: The hanging baskets have made their debut! If you have time to spare, come enjoy our beautiful flowers! I also counted the light poles around town to get a history of how many Main Street and other community partners have added to the city over 20 years (we have 106)...most host a hanging basket or two. We also have some beautiful flower boxes hanging out downtown, so come and see these bright blooms!

  • The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce hosted an excellent Third Thursday! A lot of people came out and enjoyed the music. It was a nice return to something familiar, that’s for sure! We set out our two large chalkboards in front of our office. Thanks again to everyone who participated in drawing; some were enthusiastic about drawing their favorite musical instruments!

  • There is some good news for fans of the Arts Guild. This week (May 24-28), Arts Guild members began moving artwork into our gallery. Prior to this week, some people stopped by and asked us where the art was. Luckily, you don’t have to wonder anymore! If you have time, please come in and check out what our local artists have been up to (and you can buy their artwork as well)!

  • I decided to eat lunch at The Pavilion Grill on Friday. I was torn between their fresh berry salad and the summer chicken. I tried the summer chicken and it was delicious! This dish comes with sauteed vegetables, which are good as well! I like the overall atmosphere at The Pavilion; it is a homey place and the waitresses are very hospitable! There is good reason why I’ve heard nothing but good things about The Pavilion Grill, so I highly recommend it!

These are the highlights of my week! Stay tuned for more news and important information!
