One Summer in Vermilion. Vol. 1, Issue 9

Life has been great at MSV!

  • Monday, July 12, was swap-out day for the Vermilion Arts Guild. The “Spring into Summer” show ended on July 11, and the next show, “Sea and Shore” will begin on July 17. Sea and Shore will last until September 5, so make a point to stop in and see how our artists celebrate summer!

  • Tuesday is my Shore Thing day. It was cloudier than usual but people still eat ice cream. Beach traffic was light so I snagged a John Grisham novel (The Street Lawyer) from the Free Little Library at the Beach. I’m happy to see people use it!

  • I went to the Ritter Public Library to use their button maker on Thursday. Marilou came up with a new button design that commemorates our 20th anniversary. It is a revamped version of our logo that has a “20” in the middle and is surrounded by confetti. Making buttons is definitely in the top 10 skills I acquired during this internship!

  • Also on Thursday, Marilou took Brenda, Amy and I out to lunch at Rudy’s Bar and Grill. I had a “Naked Bird” which is a plain chicken sandwich served with a side of grilled vegetables. I really enjoyed my meal, and plan on eating there again! After lunch we went to Linwood Park to eat ice cream and enjoy the view. where I shared about my previous job of water sampling for the Erie County Health Department

  • I finally got to attend Third Thursday and bring my dad along! My favorite bands were Benny Panchaco and the Hooks Project (played at Old Prague) and Blue Dot (played in Victory Park). We both enjoyed ourselves; he was able to meet Marilou, and I received a free slice of pizza from Papa Joe’s (thanks so much Chris)! It was the best pizza I’ve had in a long time!

  • Friday was a busy day. I finished up passing out Vermilion Business Connection invites to eastern corridor businesses. If you’re interested, we will be meeting Tuesday July 20 at 8 AM at Martino’s International Cafe. We would love to see you! Shore Thing volunteers also spent the day at MSV making beach glass jewelry. Many people are interested in purchasing beach glass jewelry as a souvenir. You’ll find lots of designs for sale at Shore Thing every day this summer.

My time at MSV is wrapping up, but I’m not finished quite yet! Stay tuned for more of my adventures!
