Let’s Fund the Fish!

The Fish Sculpture at Showse Park. Coming in 2026!

Vermilion’s Showse Park is getting a well-deserved makeover—new playground equipment with ADA features, walking and fitness trails, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, sitting areas and (drumroll, please) Public Art Vermilion’s exciting addition of a whimsical, interactive fish sculpture! PAV is leading the initiative to add this original piece of art where kids can climb, gather and engage in imaginative play. Partner with us and together we’ll Fund the Fish!

About Public Art Vermilion

We’re a volunteer-driven program developed in 2018. Our mission is to use public art to create a lasting and ever-evolving atmosphere of interest for art in Vermilion. PAV serves as a not-for-profit program under the 501(c)3 umbrella of Main Street Vermilion.

PAV initiatives include two Heritage Ohio Award winning projects, The Postcard Mural Project and Buoy Tree Project; Aboard, an interactive sculpture located in Main Street Park, and three Tiny Art Galleries, three located throughout Vermilion.

The Showse Park Fish Sculpture

The fish was designed by Virginia Kistler, a sculpture artist from Gahanna, OH and will be fabricated by Sean Mercer, Mercer Works of Kent, OH. It will stand 5’6”’H x 20’, built from stainless steel and durable, colorfast composite and occupy a prominent spot in the park and playground space. The total cost is estimated at $40K, that PAV will achieve through grants and fundraising. We’re also planning some fun and exciting events at the park to celebrate this iconic symbol of Vermilion, scheduled to be installed in summer 2026.
