In Vermilion Winter isn't just a Season, It's a CELEBRATION!

While some may hunker down to avoid the winter, those in the know celebrate all things ice and cold here in Vermilion.

Are you ready to head outdoors and have some fun? Main Street Vermilion’s Ice A Fair returns on Saturday, February 4th throughout historic, walkable downtown Vermilion.

Celebrating its 14th year, Ice A Fair kicks off at 11AM. The event features over 50 ice sculptures created by Elegant Ice Creations, Cleveland’s top ice sculptors. But that’s not all. Enjoy narrated trolley tours of Vermilion’s historic district, shopping, and dining.

Want to see how it’s done? Watch ice craving demonstrations throughout the day.

“The ice carving demos are a highlight of the day for sure”, adds Fred Miggins Event Chair and Main Street Treasurer. “The sculptors are artists, watching a block of ice become a sculpture is mesmerizing”.

Back by popular demand is the Kids Frozen Play Space. Made possible by generous donations from Erie County Community Foundation, Vermilion Booster Club and others it features an Ice Slide, Polar Bear Photo Op and a football toss. Guaranteed to delight kids of all ages.

Feeling Lucky? Stop by the Welcome and Information Center located in Main Steet Vermilion, 685 Main Street and check out a collection of raffle baskets and items like Guardians and Cavs tickets, 6 months of car washes from Liberty Auto Wash and FREE pizza from Vermilion Dominos for a year! You may have to don your gloves if you are the lucky winner of $1000 in Cold Hard Cash, ten $100 bills frozen in a block of ice.

What happens when you add fire to a giant, skillfully carved chimney of ice? Will the fire that burns inside topple the ice or will the melting ice douse the flames? Enjoy the suspense, beauty, and spectacular fire dancing performance all set to music for this traditional finale to the day’s events. Fire & Ice happens in the center of town 6 pm.
