No other community can boast a Christmas tradition like this one. Main Street Vermilion invites everyone, young and old, to bundle up and gather riverside at McGarvey's Landing (5150 Liberty Avenue) at for the arrival of our Christmas Tree Ship, a classic icebreaker loaded with Christmas trees and holiday cheer.
It's a heartwarming sight to see the breaker make its way down the river as the Vermilion Community Band plays Christmas music and Vermilion’s own Sid Jordan shares the story and sings the ballad of the historic Christmas Tree Ship that sailed the Great Lakes. We’ll have cookies, donuts and hot chocolate to keep you warm, too and we’ll also recognize the winners of the Vermilion Elementary Christmas coloring contest.
Looking for a new tradition for your family’s Christmas? We can make that happen. Head to the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce's Christmas Tree Lot behind Tiffany's Flowers at 686 Main Street before November 30, pick the perfect tree, tag it and Main Street will get it on the boat for dockside delivery. Imagine the looks on your children’s faces as their tree arrives by boat! If you live in Vermilion and need help getting it home, we can do that, too. [Trees should arrive before Thanksgiving but to be sure, call Tiffany’s at 440.967.9996]
