No other community can boast a Christmas tradition like this one. Main Street Vermilion invites everyone, young and old, to bundle up and gather riverside at McGarvey's Landing for the arrival of our Christmas Tree Ship, an icebreaker loaded with Christmas trees and holiday cheer. It's a heartwarming sight to see the breaker make its way down the river with a US Coast Guard escort, which you're welcome to tour. There's music from Vermilion's own Sid Jordan and the Vermilion Community Band, cookies, donuts and hot chocolate to keep you warm and awards for the winners of the Vermilion Elementary Christmas coloring contest.
Want your family Christmas tree delivered on the ship? Head to the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce's Christmas Tree Lot in front of Tiffany's Flowers at Old Town Hall, 736 Main Street, between November 24th and December 1st tag a tree and Main Street will get it on the boat for dockside delivery. If you live in Vermilion and need help getting it home, we can do that, too.
